Anne Galloway

Anne is the founder and editor-at-large of VTDigger, which is one of the biggest online only local news nonprofits in the U.S. Galloway pioneered a sustainable business model for VTDigger based on journalism impact, audience growth and revenues from membership, underwriting and philanthropy. VTDigger started with $16,000 and no employees and grew to a $3.7 million nonprofit daily news operation with 12,000 paying members annually and a staff of 35. In 2017, Galloway was a finalist for the Ancil Payne Award for Ethics, the Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award and the Investigative Reporters and Editors FOIA Award for her investigation into foreign investor fraud at Jay Peak Resort. She is a Facebook Accelerator alum and a 2022 graduate of the Sulzberger Executive Leadership Program. In 2023, Galloway received the Yankee Quill Award for lifetime service in journalism by the New England Academy of Journalists.
